Delores J. Dickerson age 82 of Marion, Ohio, passed away Tuesday December 10, 2013 at the Marion General Hospital.
She was born July 10, 1931 in Marion, Ohio to the late Forrest and Bertha (Hood) Cole.
On January 22, 1949 in Greenup, Ky., she married Kenneth A. Dickerson and he preceded her in death in June of 2011.
Delores was retired as a cook from the Marion City Schools. Along the way in her life she worked at the Silk Factory, Ranko, L & K, and also sold Avon and Tupperware.
Delores was a fifty-nine year member of Fite Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member and teacher of the 3-G’s class, did BSF for five years, and was a primary class teacher for many years.
She also at one time was President of the Pleasant Band Boosters, President of the Olney PTA, Volunteered at Marion General Hospital, was a Co-Advisor with Med Explorers, a member of the Popcorn Festival Pageant, and was a member of the Church Choir and Quartet. In her spare time Delores loved to do upholstery, flower arranging, and crocheting.
Delores leaves behind three daughters; Nanette Dickerson and Susan Dickerson both of Marion, Ohio, and Theresa (Steve L.) Spencer of Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Kristin (J.R.) Austin, Ashley (Kurtis) Smith, Brittany (Steve) Schotte, Madelyn and Kayden Smith, Connor and Taelynn Austin, and Jackson Schotte. Also surviving is a sister and two brothers; Virginia Carrel of Richwood, Ohio, Larney Cole of Parkersburg, W.Va., Richard (Daizy) Cole of Marion, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, Delores was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Lucille Dearth.
Funeral Services will be on Monday December 16, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the Fite Memorial Baptist Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. David Carlyle. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Sunday December 15, 2013 from 2 to 6 P.M.
