Maxine Faye Ambrose, age 84, of Marion, passed away unexpectedly at her home on December 10, 2013.
Maxine was born on November 7, 1929 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Velva (Hager) and Gilmer Pinkerton.
She graduated from New Bloomington High School where she was active in volleyball and choir. She was the May Queen for 1947.
Maxine married Francis E. “Bud” Ambrose in Russell, Kentucky on January 1, 1949. They were married 36 years until his death on December 7, 1985. They had 3 children.
Her last place of employment was Sycon Corp. She truly enjoyed the work and the people she worked with. Maxine loved to dance and to travel. She was active in Marion Senior Center.
Maxine is survived by three children, Linda (Gary) Groves, Michael Ambrose, and Ronald (Lisa) Ambrose; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Gawne, Crystal (Sheldon) Marshall, Josiah, Justin, Chase, Cohl, and Makenna; and seven great grandchildren. Maxine is also survived by her companion of 18 years, Ken Payne, sister, Dorine Calbert and brother, David (B.J.) Pinkerton
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Francis “Bud,” parents, brother, Leo (Alice) Pinkerton, and a great-granddaughter.
Friends may call Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors, 347 W. Center St., Marion, from 4 until 8PM. The funeral service will be Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 10:30AM at Prospect Street United Methodist Church, 185 S. Prospect St., Marion, OH with Pastor Nancy Goulet presiding.
