Sally Roush, 94, of Marion

Sally RoushSally Roush, age 94 of Marion, Ohio passed away Sunday December 22, 2013 at Kobacker House after a stay at Riverside Hospital.

She was born October 11, 1919 in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence and Mabel (Watkins) Bonnoront.

Sally graduated from Sidney High School with the class of 1936. She then attended Bliss Business College in Columbus, Ohio graduating in 1938.

She was employed at Farm Security Administration, USDA from 1938 through 1943, in Sidney, Dayton, Indianapolis, Columbus, and then in Athens.

In Athens, she then met her husband, Francis with whom they celebrated 63 years. When her husband returned from World War II, they entered business together starting the Marion Frozen Food Center in Marion, Ohio which they operated together for 35 years.

She was an active member of Central Christian Church serving as Deaconess, Elder, and past president of the Christian Women’s Fellowship Group.

During her business years, she was active in the Marion Altrusa Club, past president of the American Business Women’s Association and Elected Woman of the Year, and volunteered at Community Healthcare Hospital. Also she was a member of Eastern Star, Lydia Chapter, Marion, Ohio, and the George L. Behrens Chapter 504, Delaware, Ohio.

She was also a member of Pleasant and Marion Senior Citizens. She also was active and secretary of the Marion Parkinson Support Group.

In Sidney, Ohio, she was past president of the Rainbow Gardener’s Association and also regional director of Region V for the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs. She was a member of Pleiades Chapter # 298, Eastern Star of Sidney, Ohio serving as worthy Matron in 1986 and 1992, also Grand Representative to Maine in 1995.

Sally’s interests were bowling every Thursday afternoon, camping and traveling with her family.

She is survived by one son, Thomas D. Roush (wife Lil) of Seattle, Washington, and one daughter, Bonnie S. Burns (Dennis) of Marion, Ohio, one Grandson and two stepgrandchildren, and two great-grandsons and two stepgreat-grandchildren and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis W. Roush, and a sister Linda Sue Shonk.

Funeral Services will be on Friday December 27, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Merlyn Winters. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Thursday December 26, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M.
