Berlin Blanton, age 75, of New Bloomington, Ohio went home to be with his Lord unexpectedly on Monday, January 13, 2014, at 7:14 p.m. at Marion General Hospital.
He was born on January 4, 1939 in Flat Fork, Kentucky to Jim and Grace (Bolling) Blanton.
Berlin was a member of White Oaks Road Freewill Baptist Church and the Ohio Laborer’s Union. He was a construction worker from 1970-1986, working from the Ohio Laborer’s Union, until his medical retirement.
He will be greatly missed by his loving family of 5 sons; Chester R. (Christine) Blanton of LaRue, Oh., Danny Joe (Tara) Blanton of New Bloomington, Oh., Roger Allen Blanton of New Bloomington, Oh., Randy Lee Blanton of Paintsville, Ky., & James Daryl (Danielle) Blanton of Kenton, Oh., 1 daughter; Kimberly Sue (Scott) Close of LaRue, Oh., 1 sister; Bonnie Blanton of Flat Fork, Ky., 7 grandchildren; Courtney Autumn Blanton, Cheyenne Tyler Close, Taylor Dawn Close, Scott Allen Close, Dustin James Blanton, Dylan Abrams, & Joshlynn Abrams.
Berlin was preceded in death by a son; Berlin David Blanton Jr., 4 brothers; Corbett, Kelly, Chester, & Melvin Blanton, and 6 sisters; Ritter Combs, Edith Porter, Martha Blanton, Stella Mae Blanton, Helen Blanton, & Ella Mae Blanton.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Friday, January 17th, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the White Oaks Road Freewill Baptist Church on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in the Agosta Cemetery. Rev. Danny Dickerson will officiate. A meal will be provided at the church starting at 12 noon Saturday.
