Eleanore L. Moore Severns, age 84, of Marion, went to be with the Lord, New Year’s Day, Wednesday morning, January 1, 2013, at the Sterling House Care Center in Marion following an extended illness.
On March 27, 1929, Eleanore was born in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Newlove) Moore. She was a graduate of Marion Harding High School in the Class of 1948.
Shortly following high school, Eleanore went on a double date with her sister, Ann, her date was Robert “Bob” Severns. After falling for each other, they were married soon thereafter on July 2, 1950. Together they shared nearly 35 wonderful years of marriage, and lovingly raised four children.
The matriarch of the family, Eleanore was not just a loving homemaker, she was the caretaker of the entire family. She always made sure everyone was well and taken care of, especially her grandchildren, all of whom she loved spoiling.
A woman of faith, Eleanore was formerly a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church.
Eleanore learned to love animals from a young age, even having a pet cow named “Buttercup”. She then loved the companionship of her pet dogs and cats for the rest of her life.
She will be missed by her four children: Jacqueline Young of Leesburg, FL, Tom (Carol) Severns, Judy (Gary) Tewalt, and Jenny (Roger) Bolander, all of Marion; 4 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Severns of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
Including her husband and parents, Eleanore was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bernard “Barney” Young.
Her family will greet friends from 9 – 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 4th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life will follow there at 10:00 a.m., with Hospice Chaplain Pamela Lamb-Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
