Esther Marie Nelson, age 77, of Marion, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014, surrounded by her family, at Riverside Hospital.
Esther was born on November 27, 1936 in Pedro, OH to the late Cecil J. and Mary Ellen (Gates) Hush.
While working at the Humpty Dumpty, Esther met William Nelson, a cab driver, who offered to take her home from work. It was love at first sight and on December 31, 1960 they married. William preceded Esther in death in 1996.
Never knowing a stranger, she enjoyed playing bingo and drinking coffee with the ladies at the Marion Towers. The most important thing in Esther’s life was her family. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Esther is survived by children, Allen F. Nelson of Mt. Vernon and Laura (Tom) Schultz of Marion; step-children, Rex Nelson, Kevin Nelson, and Debra Wallace all of Florida; brother, Raymond Hush of Marion; sister, Wanda Faye Kelly of Marion; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by son, David Nelson; brothers, Cecil, Walter, and Peter Hush; and sister, Darlene Barnhart.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors from 3 until 7PM. A Funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Ministers Tom Schultz and Kenneth Durtsche officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
