Frederick E. Steinman age 69 of Marion, Ohio, passed away Thursday January 9, 2014 at Marion General Hospital.
He was born August 24, 1944 in Morral, Ohio to the late Elza Owen and Hazel (Gattshall) Steinman.
On March 23, 1996 in Marion he married Sally T. Townsend and she preceded him in death on October 29, 2012.
Fred was retired as a forklift operator with Con Agra of Marion, but spent most of his working life with the former Quaker Oats Co., until it’s closure. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #889, V.F.W. Post German Thomas, and American Legion Post #584. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Fred loved to bowl and partake in his spirits, and he loved and enjoyed his dogs.
Fred leaves behind a daughter and two sons; Nora Lou Street of Marion, Ohio, John (Betty) Steinman of Lima, Ohio, and Gary Lee Henry, Jr. of Marion, Ohio. Eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren survive as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife, Fred was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Ann Henry, and two step-sisters.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday January 15, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Frank Doolittle. Burial will follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday two hours prior to the service from 11 to 1 P.M.
