Robert J. Nicholson, age 91, of Marion and formerly of Toledo, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Kingston Residence of Marion.
Robert was born on April 30, 1922 in Pleasant City, OH, the son of Lowell R. and Alberta M. (Ross) Nicholson. Robert proudly served his county during WWII, serving in the United States Army AirCorps. He is retired from the United States Postal Service.
On September 2, 1950, Robert was united in marriage to Marilyn Madison in Bowling Green, Ohio. Together they have shared 63 years of marriage.
Robert is survived by his wife Marilyn Madison Nicholson, daughter Barbara (Rick) Creps, daughter-in-law Denise (Mazur) Nicholson; grandchildren: David (Amy) Nicholson, Lisa (Jim) Galas, Brian (Jennifer) Szkatulski, Matthew (Amanda) Creps, Ryan (Meredith) Creps, Elizabeth Creps and Sarah (fiancé Jeff Gorenflo) Creps; 13 great grandchildren and a brother Donald Nicholson.
He is preceded in death by his son Robert S. Nicholson, his parents Lowell and Alberta Nicholson and brothers: William Ross and Phillip Nicholson.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 135 W Main St, Waldo, OH at 11AM with Rev. Sarah Schaaf officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
