Bertha G. WalkerBertha G. Walker, age 98, of Marion, passed away on Thursday morning, February 13, 2014 at the Kingston Residence of Marion.

Bertha was born on January 23, 1916 in Huntington, Indiana; the daughter of the late Peter Charles and Eva (Bensing) Kase. She attended Green Camp High School in the class of 1934 and then attended two years of college. She worked in the Insurance industry as a secretary for many years.

On November 24, 1940, Bertha was united in marriage to Francis M. Walker at the Elk’s Club in Ironton, Ohio. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2011.

Bertha had many hobbies that she enjoyed. She loved tending to her garden and flowers, she enjoyed playing Euchre and cooking for her family. She and Francis traveled all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Bertha is survived by her daughter Myrna (Larry) Eaggleston of Richwood; grandchildren: Jennifer D. Sidle and Jason Sidle both of Marion; and a special niece Ann Crippin of Ft. Wayne, IN.

Bertha is preceded in death by her husband Francis; her parents and siblings: Harold Kase, Carl Kase, Edwin Moore, Susan Schroeder, Henrietta Lapp, Georgiana Houser and Wanda Cole.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Grand Prairie Cemetery at 1PM. Bertha and Francis’s cremains will be buried together in a joint ceremony. To honor Francis’s time during WWII in the Air Force, military honors will be provided by the Marion County Veterans Council. Chaplain Pamela Lamb-Hart will be officiating the joint service.
