Dorothy Della Simmons age 86 of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Thursday March 13, 2014 at her residence.
She was born September 14, 1927 in Marion, Ohio to the late Samuel Hill and Mary Virginia (Shoots) Foos.
On May 26, 1945 in Greenup, Ky., she married Robert William Edward Simmons and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2002.
Dorothy was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church where she was a past member of the Altar Guild. She volunteered at Heritage Hall and also at Marion General Hospital. Dorothy loved to play the organ and sing and the family said she was an excellent cook.
She is survived by two daughters and a son; Cheryl (Jim) Antrim of El Sobrante, Ca., Connie Roberts of Marion, Ohio, and Bill (Mary Ann) Simmons of Marion, Ohio. There are two granddaughters and a step-granddaughter surviving; Sommer and Kaeli Antrim and Piper (Dave) Kimble, as well as one great-grandson and two step-great-grandsons surviving; Coby Stark and Logan Finchum and Kyler Kimble. Dorothy also leaves behind a sister and two brothers; Ruthella Gregory of Morral, Ohio, Dallas (Donna) Foos of Marion, Ohio, Ron (Terry) Foos of Galion, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy had a best friend, Kathy Sherman who survives also.
Besides her parents and her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Ann Foos, and two brothers, Elmore and Charles Foos.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Officiating the service will be Pastor Mark Schuring and A.I.M. Kevin Kehn. Burial will follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Monday March 17, 2014 from 5 to 8 P.M.
