Dwight Henry Custer age 82 of Marion, Ohio, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday March 2, 2014 at the Marion General Hospital.
He was born September 17, 1931 in Marion to the late Fred D. and Bernase (Tong) Custer.
On October 27, 1951 in Ft. Wayne, Ind. he married Marilyn L. Nagley who survives, and they spent 62 wonderful years together.
Dwight was retired as a truck driver with Signal Delivery Co., and before going into truck driving, he was a Draftsman with the former Marion Power Shovel Co.
He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene most of his life where over the years he was a Sunday School Teacher, he was an Usher, and he volunteered for as long as he was able. Dwight was very active and quite involved in the church.
Dwight also served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son; Marcia K. (Keith) Denman of Greenville, Ohio, Dawn J. (Jeff) Ballantyne of Edison, Ohio, and Robin L. Custer of Marion, Ohio. Three grandsons also survive; Nicholas R. Fetter, Chad J. and Scott Denman, as well as a niece, Paula Whaley.
Along with his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by two brothers; Donald and Edgar Custer.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday March 5, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at First Church of the Nazarene. Officiating the service will be Pastor Phillip Modlin. Burial will follow in the Claridon Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday two hours prior to the service from 11 to 1 P.M.
