Minnie E. Timmons, age 81, of Green Camp, passed away at her residence Thursday, March 6, 2014.
Born in Marion on January 17, 1933 to the late Carl and Ethel (Evans) Rinnert, Minnie was a graduate of Harding High School Class of 1951.
She was active with Marion County Board of Elections, volunteered at Med-Center, involved with Green Camp Lion’s Club, Genealogical Society, local Senior Citizens, Senior Choir, and Red Hat Society. She sang for many years with her husband James then later with her children as a trio. She was a lifetime seamstress, enjoyed making and selling crafts with her sisters; she also worked at Anthony’s Dry-cleaning and Green Camp Grocery. She was active in church functions and went to Shiloh Baptist Church, Salem Church of God, and Green Camp Baptist Church.
Minnie married James W. Timmons Sr. July 23, 1950 and he preceded her in death May 23, 1993.
She is survived by one son James (Bonnie) Timmons Jr. of Green Camp, one daughter Deborah (Ron) Clark of Columbus, two sisters Ada Clay, and Phyllis Spires of Marion, five grandchildren, Cathy Thomas, Dawn Rollins, Sarah Timmons, Shannon Hawkins, Jon Timmons, and ten great-grandchildren.
Minnie is preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick and Robert Timmons.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Rev. Russell Thompson Officiating. Burial will follow in Green Camp Cemetery.
