Vern “Rick” Hendrickson, age 56, of LaRue and formerly of Marion, died unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon, March 15, 2014, while doing one of his favorite things in life…working on cars.
On March 11, 1958, Rick was born in Kenton, Ohio, the son of the late Vern and Minnie (Phipps) Hendrickson.
A man of many talents, Rick enjoyed doing odd jobs to help take care of his family and friends. He especially enjoyed helping them with their cars.
An animal lover, Rick had three rabbits and three dogs as pets at his house. Not long ago he also “had his own petting zoo”, with goats, chickens, and many many more animals.
A jokester, Rick could get you to laugh on even your worst of days.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 15 years, Becky (Allgyre) Hendrickson of LaRue; 13 sons and daughters, and many more children and grandchildren he helped raise; three sisters: Vera (Paul) Wells of Florida, Esta (Chuck) Mayberry of Marysville, and Mary Bell Buchanan of West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his daughter, Nikki Hendrickson.
His family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring his life will be observed on Friday at 11:00 a.m., at his graveside in York Center Cemetery in Union County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the care of the funeral home to help the family with funeral expenses.
Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve Rick’s family and your private condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
