Gilbert E. Stotts, age 77, of Mount Gilead, passed away on Friday morning, April 4, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Gilbert was born in Quaker City, Ohio on March 12, 1937, the son of Dewey and Susie Stotts. He graduated from the Edison High School. For most of his career, Gilbert worked as a truck driver.
On March 6, 1964, Gilbert was united in marriage to Shelby Jean Bartley. Together they just celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Gilbert will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, tending to his flowers and mowing the yard. He and Shelby spent a lot of time being proud grandparents watching the grandkids in their sporting events.
He will be missed by his devoted wife Shelby Jean Stotts; his children: Melinda (Earl) Lantz of Port Richey, FL, Cheryl (Phil) Heacock of Mount Gilead, Brian Stotts of New Albany and Thomas Stotts of Marion; grandchildren: Jamie Heacock, Joshua Adams, Morgan, Michelle and Jason Heacock and Briana and Sierra Stotts; great grandchild Trenas Heacock.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N.Main St., Mount Gilead from 5PM to 7PM; Funeral services will immediately follow at 7PM with Pastor Arthur Wooddell officiating. Burial will be held privately at a later time.
