Genevieve Mae Beers, 95, formerly of Marion

Genevieve Mae BeersGenevieve Mae Beers, age 95, of Tampa, Florida and formerly of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Florida Hospital Tampa.

Genevieve was born on April 29, 1919 in McComb, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arba Merle and Anna Viola (Schroeder) Kelly. She graduated from the Martel High School. On August 14, 1937, Genevieve was united in marriage to Eldon Beers. She enjoyed being on the farm and being a farm girl. Later in life, she enjoyed her winters in Venice, Florida.

Genevieve spent time working at several companies over the years, including JC Penney’s, Hemmerly’s Flower Shop, House of Design and was a dedicated homemaker.

She had a servant’s heart and loved her Lord. She was a devoted Bible reader, along with other spiritual and religious books. She also participated in many church activities and groups. Genevieve also enjoyed the music of the Gaither Vocal Band. She was a gracious volunteer at many school activities when her children were younger. She gave of herself to others in special ways by decorating and creating centerpieces.

She is survived by her loving children: Terry (fiancé Carolyn Owens) Beers of Marion and Karen (Steve) Boyd of Wesley Chapel, FL; grandchildren: Kevin Beers, Pamela (Michael) Rawan, Nathan (Cathy) Boyd and Lesley (Kevin) Morris; Great grandchildren: Sophia and Carolina Rawan; Ethan, Madeline and Annabelle Morris.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Eldon Beers; and siblings: Leland Kelly, Serge Kelly and Thobourne “Toby” Kelly.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Central Christian Church, 421 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion from 11AM to 12Noon; Memorial services will immediately follow at the church at 12Noon with Rev. Merlyn Winters; Internment will be held privately for the family at Marion Cemetery.

If so desired, donations may be made to Central Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
