David Walter Harris, 67, of Marion

David Walter HarrisDavid Walter Harris, age 67, of Marion, left this world peacefully June 23, 2014, surrounded by his family at his home.

Born December 22, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA, he was the son of the late Irving “Whitey” Harris and Marcella (Dixon) Messenger.

David married Geraldine Christian in 1975. David served in the US Military and is a Vietnam Veteran having served Airborne in the United States Army. He has always been an avid member of the American Legion, VFW, Moose Lodge and AmVets.

David was a master locksmith and master “safe cracker” by trade. If you needed it opened, or couldn’t find your keys, you called Dave.

Most of all, his true passion was his friends, family and watching his children and grandchildren grow up to start and create their own journeys.

David is survived by his wife Geraldine; children: Debbie Cook of Marion, Diana (Patrick) Williams of Marion, Don (Shawna) Morita of Delaware, David (Mara) Morita of Wisconsin, Doris Stafford of Powell, Mishel (J.R.) Krawczyk of Richwood and Melissa (Jim) Cruikshank of Delaware; Grandchildren: Tina Whitaker, Bobbi Jo Huffman, Lisa Corbin Miller, Harold Jr. Cook, Bo Cook, Nicole Cook, John Paul Cook, Jason Williams, Maya Morita, Chris Morita, Tony Morita, Josh Morita, Ryan Morita, Jack Stafford, Monica Stafford, Tory Krawczyk, Vince Krawczyk, Kaine Krawczyk, Madeline Cruikshank and a growing collection of great grandchildren; lifelong friend Joe Benson of Marion.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 4PM to 7PM; Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the funeral home at 11AM with Pastor Barkley Sloan officiating; Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery with military honors.

If so desired, donations may be made to the Heartland Hospice of Marion.
