Esther J. (Mills) Caldwell age 93 of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Sunday June 22, 2014 at the Marion Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on January 31, 1921 in Marion to the late Fredrick Pearl and Providence Christine (Knotts) Mills.
On July 10, 1942 in Marion, Ohio she married Earl O. Caldwell and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2000.
Esther was very active throughout her life. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Marion Senior Center, Pleasant Senior Center, and the Community Action Senior Center. She also worked in housekeeping at the Marion YMCA and retired from there after 13 years. The family said she had a great sense of humor and was a great cook and baker, which they will miss. Esther also loved playing cards, Square Dancing with her husband Earl, riding roller coasters, and she loved to travel especially out west to visit her daughter, Barbara.
Esther leaves behind three daughters and a son; Barbara Ann Sanders of Cheyenne, Wy., Norma Jean Caldwell of Marion, Ohio, Karen Sue (Jerry) Comer of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Walter Eugene (Linda) Caldwell of Marion, Ohio. Also surviving are four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Caldwell, two grandchildren, one great grandchild, five sisters, and one brother.
Funeral Services will be on Friday June 27, 2014 at 2:30 P.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Charles Reed. Burial will follow in the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M.
