Walter Joseph Cross, age 64, of Marion passed away after suffering a massive heart attack at his home on Friday.
Walter was born in Marion on June 24, 1949 to James Howard and Dorothy Emma (Geary) Cross.
Walter worked for the Huber Corporation until it’s closing. He enjoyed racing, fishing, camping, outdoor events and spending time with his family during his time off.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter-in-law; Sunshine (Oney) Cross and brother-in-law; Kenneth Underwood Sr.
Walter is survived by his wife; the former Brenda Kirk who he married on November 4, 1978, his daughter; Tina (Randi) McQuistion of Mt. Gilead, his son; James Cross of Marion, his 5 grandchildren; Rheonna McQuistion, Haley Cross, Erin McQuistion, Dillan Oney and Paige Cross, his 2 sisters; Tina Underwood of Morral and Bonnie (Gene) Bishop of Marion and numerous nieces and nephews.
Walter demonstrated his unselfishness by being a tissue donor and wished for his remains to be cremated.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. His family has chosen the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home to be entrusted with Walter’s arrangements.
