Evelyn Mae Freeman, 87, of Marion, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at her home in Marion.
Evelyn was born in Wyandot County to the late Homer and Mae Woodrum on November 10, 1926. She went to school at Marion Harding.
The only girl of six children, brother Paul (Darlene) Woodrum survives; brothers Roger, Carroll, Lloyd, and Raymond Woodrum all preceded her in death.
She married William T. Freeman on March 20, 1944 and this year they celebrated their 70th Anniversary; William survives.
Evelyn & Bill had two sons, William (Malia) Freeman, Jr., who survives, and Richard E. Freeman who preceded her in death in 1994. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Cheryl (David) Grate of Marion, Karen (Todd) Gorter of Olathe, Kansas, Geoff (Dinah) Freeman of Marion, Tom Garner, and Tim (Laura) Garner of LaRue, and; 7 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was a member of the Marion Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church and served as their organist for many years.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to special neighbors, Benny (Phylis) Rose; Caregivers, Willie Mae Jenkins of Interim Healthcare, Laura Garner, and all the staff of Hospice of Heartland for their assistance and excellent care, and to all who touched her life through your support, care and friendship.
Visitation will be held at Marion Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church on July 31, 2014 from 5 pm to 8 pm, and on August 1, 2014 from 10am to 11am. Funeral service will be held at Marion Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church on August 1, 2014 at 11 am with Reverend David Blowers officiating. Burial/Internment will follow at Marion Cemetery.
