Harvey “Al” Doss, 81, of Richwood, formerly of LaRue

Harvey "Al" DossHarvey “Al” Doss, 81, of Richwood, formerly of LaRue, died peacefully early Monday morning, July 21, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born November 11, 1932 in Springfield to the late Harvey M. and Helen Lydia (Knott) Doss.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during the Korean War.  He had worked as a maintenance mechanic for various companies, including Pollack Steel and Huber Manufacturing in Marion, Cosmo Plastics in Mt. Gilead and J. Lenco in LaRue.

Al was a member of Phillippi Clement Post 101 American Legion of LaRue, LaRue Lodge #463 F&AM, and a lifetime member of Amvets Post 777 in Upper Sandusky.  He enjoyed his time at home being on the computer and watching TV.

On December 29, 1985 he married the former Susie Grose in the Richwood First United Methodist Church and she survives in Richwood.  He is also survived by a brother, David (Becky) Doss of Marion; two sons, David L. “Butch” (Patti) Doss, Marion; Donald Doss, LaRue; two daughters, Sheryl (Gary) DeWalt, Marion; Katrina Thomas, Marion; a stepson, Andy (Wanda) Williams, New Bloomington; ten grandchildren, William, David, James, Brad, Rena, Angie, Krystal, Tiffany, Dani and Timothy; six step grandchildren, Abby, Angie, Ben, Bryan, Wendi and Courtney; eighteen great-grandchildren, thirteen step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild on the way.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Jerry McQueen officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Marion County United Veterans Council.  Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM.
