Richard “Dick” M. Vance, 69, of Marion

Richard “Dick” M. VanceRichard “Dick” M. Vance, age 69, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at his home with his family at his side.

Dick was born July 21, 1945 in Temple, Texas to Robert and Miriam (Lusch) Vance who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Chris and Gary and a granddaughter, Michelle K. Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marla (Jones) Vance; two daughters, Deborah (Craig) Layne and Darcy (Kenny) Ballinger all of Marion; a brother, Timothy Vance of Florida; two special grandsons, Scott Williams of Marion and Michael (Jade) Williams; and two great-grandchildren, Arianna and Michael Williams II of Boston, MA.  Also two step grandchildren, Latisha (Stevie) Lewis and Craig Layne, Jr.

Dick was owner of Midwest Lettering Co., Marion and Sunbelt Lettering in Pensacola, Fl.

He traveled the world for business and pleasure including his yearly trips with his two grandsons Scott and Michael.

His cats Samme and Edde were very special to him.

Visitation will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 241 S. Prospect Street on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 3 until 7PM where funeral services will be held 10AM Saturday, August 2, 2014 with Rev. Mark Schuring officiating.  Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Marion General Hospital Hospice.  Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors are assisting with arrangements.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.gunderhallandfolk.com.
