On August 26, 2014, Blanche Elizabeth Lauer, 97, went home to be with the Lord. She was born on February 16, 1917, the only child of John and Bertha (Lodwig) Penry. She spent her lifetime on her family farm outside Prospect.
Blanche was a lifetime member of Prospect Baptist Church where she taught many years of Sunday school. She participated in circle, youth and mission work during her active years. In 2007 she was awarded the Lifetime Service Award for the footprints she left on the hearts of those she had cared for and ministered to for nearly 80 years.
Blanche loved children and was a 4-H leader and a member of the Ohio Child Conservation League where she helped to start Prospect’s first kindergarten. She was a member of many clubs in Prospect and had a great love for her friends and family.
Blanche married Paul Edward Lauer on December 20, 1939 and he preceded her in death on February 16, 1981. Surviving are one son, Thomas J. (Carol) Lauer, Prospect; grandchildren, Todd (fiancée, Jenny Coby) Lauer, Prospect; Stephanie (Scott) Forry, Morral; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Emma Forry, Morral; one niece and four nephews. Deceased is one infant son, Gary L. Lauer.
Calling hours will be Friday, August 29, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Prospect Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.
