John Fragmin, age 79, of Marion passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 11:15 p.m. in his residence. He was born on March 12, 1935 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late Frank and Mary (Litz) Fragmin.
On July 27, 1964 in Marion he married the former Ellene Culwell and she survives in Marion.
John retired in 1991 as a corrections officer at the Marysville Reformatory for Women where he had been employed for over 15 years. Following his retirement, he worked for the Marion Star for 7 years as a carrier.
He is survived by his wife; Ellene, 1 son; John Howell of Virginia, 8 daughters; Vanessia (Butch) Purvis of Marion, Oh., Veronica Cooney of Delaware, Oh., Mary (Tim) Troesch of Marion, Oh., Angelia Fragmin of Marion, Oh., Anita (Chris) Olson of Columbus, Oh., Dixie Kinkaid of Virginia, & Debbie Howell of Virginia. John is also survived by numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 5 brothers & 4 sisters.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held in the Marion Cemetery on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor David Carlyle officiating. Military rites will be given by the Marion Co. Veterans Council.
