Richard H. Dale, 88, of Marion

Richard H. DaleRichard H. Dale age 88 of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on November 7, 1925 in New Philadelphia, Ohio to the late Thomas E. and Margaret (Beitler) Dale.

On August 26, 1949 in Lakewood, Ohio, Richard married Doris Joan Gilkison and she survives.

Richard was retired as a Vendor for the Canteen Corporation of America. He was a member of Crosswood United Methodist Church and was a W.W.II U.S. Navy Veteran.

Over the years, Richard was involved with the Boy Scouts and Little League Baseball. He was known as the neighborhood dad, getting involved in and creating activities for the kids in the neighborhood. He also was an avid bowler for many years and was a member of the 700 Club. And last but not least, Richard was an avid Cleveland Browns Football and Cleveland Indians Baseball Fan.

Surviving Richard along with his wife of almost sixty-five years are two daughters and three sons; Mary Bussard of Springfield, Ohio, Sue (Henry) McDonald of Englewood, Fl., Thomas (Kathy) Dale of Ostrander, Ohio, Robert “Bo” (Patty) Dale and Scott Dale both of Marion, Ohio. Nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ryks, a brother, John Dale, and a nephew, Jim Ryks.

Funeral Services will be on Friday August 22, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the Crosswood United Methodist Church. Officiating the service will be Pastor Joe Ziraldo. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery with Military Rites by the Marion County United Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Thursday August 21, 2014 from 5 to 7 P.M.
