Jay L. Arthur, age 57, of Marion, died Sunday afternoon, August 31, 2014, at the Marion General Hospital following a brief illness.
On July 26, 1957, Jay was born in Marion, Ohio, one of six sons of the late Jesse “Jiggs” and Nina Pearl (Smith) Arthur. He graduated from Marion Harding High School.
A jack of all trades, Jay could work on and fix anything. He also will be remembered for all of the countless practical jokes he played on his many family and friends.
Loved by all, he will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 24 years, Vicki Arthur of Marion; five children: Clarissa (Danny) Schirtzinger, Julie Arthur, Joshua (Stacy Keaton) Arthur, Laura Honesto, and Sandy (Joe Honaker) Taylor; 12 grandchildren: P. Jay Stoll, Bo Fultz, Joe, Harley, Marvin, and Johnathan Honesto, Robert Kinkaid II, Kristen Carr, Tyler and Ethan Arthur, Brandee Long, and James “Skip” Jones; 6 great-grandchildren: Serienity and Bobby Stoll, Ivy, Matthew and Maya Clarke, and Lidia Carr; four brothers: Jack, John, Jesse, and Jerry Arthur; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.
Including his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachael Taylor; a grandson, Joshua Arthur; and a brother, James “Joe” Arthur.
Services celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
Rather than flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
