Phyllis Arlene (Converse) Slob, 80, of Marion

Phyllis Arlene (Converse) SlobPhyllis Arlene (Converse) Slob, age 80, of Marion, Ohio passed away on Tuesday September 2, 2014, at the Kingston Residence of Marion surrounded by her daughters and granddaughter.

She was born December 25, 1933 to the late Earnest Leon and Mary Vivian (Hamilton) Converse. She graduated from Green Camp High School in 1951 in a class of 13.

On April 13, 1957 she married the love of her life Robert Dale Slob in Greencamp at the Greencamp Baptist Church. They enjoyed 47 great years before his passing in 2004.

Phyllis worked at Fulfillment Company until her first child came along. She remained a busy housewife raising their two girls. Phyllis was very active in her daughters and relatives lives. She was room mother, in PTA, Brownie Leader, Girl Scout leader and music booster at Harding High School. She was an avid baker. She was always baking cookies and cakes for bake sales, holidays and special events. She enjoyed camping, traveling to parades with her husband and his little Shrine Car and taking care of people. After her children were raised she worked at Bev’s Boutique @ Crawbaugh True Value for 14 years.

She was a fifty year member of George L. Behrens chapter of the Order of the Eastern Stars and a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters Connie Slob & Tammy Slob, a granddaughter Heather (Alec) Toy all of Marion. Three sisters, Donna(Richard) Lawrence of Bremen, Ohio, Rebecca (Shelton) Williams of Lake Placid, Florida, Sandy (Earl) Harrison of Elizabethtown, Kentucky a brother Ronald (Joyce) Converse of New Port Richey Florida. Aunt Shirley (Harold) Grose of West Mansfield, Ohio, many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant sister.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and caregivers in the Kingston Memory Care Unit and Acclaim Hospice.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion from 4PM to 7PM; Funeral services will be Saturday at Epworth United Methodist Church, 249 E Center St, Marion at 10AM with Rev. David Hoffman officiating, burial will be in Caledonia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Adult Daycare at Kingston or the Epworth Preschool Scholarship Fund.
