Robert “Bob” R. Gheen, age 61, of Mount Gilead died early Thursday morning, August 28, 2014, at the Presidential Care Center in Marion following a several month battle with cancer.
Bob was born on May 30, 1953 in Beverly, Ohio, one of three children of the late Clifford and Sara (Perkins) Gheen. They moved to Morrow County when he was a child where he attended Mount Gilead Schools.
Bob worked at Morrow County Hospital for over 15 years as an orderly. After his work at that hospital ended, he did miscellaneous construction jobs, and detailing cars. Bob spent his time enjoying the simple things in life. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and was always there to help them when they needed it. He also loved to do mow yards and do yard work. Having a good sense of humor, Bob loved sharing a good laugh with his friends and family.
He will be missed by his four children: Jason (Nicole) Gheen of Cardington, Chad Gheen of Marion, Mandy Gheen and Brandy (Cedric) Golston of Schenectady, New York; 7 grandchildren: Dominique, Donte, Emily, Brooklyn, Dylan, Devin, and Dequawn; a brother, Jimmy Gheen; a sister, Deloris (late Jeri) Waite, both of Mount Gilead; several nieces and nephews, and his friend and former wife, Donna Blair of Cardington.
His family will greet friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3rd, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring his life will follow at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetary in Cardington.
