Esther Juanita Chard, 91, of Marion

Esther Juanita ChardEsther Juanita Chard, age 91, of Marion passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Marion Manor Nursing Home.

Esther was born in Marion on May 18, 1923, the daughter of Percy R. and Louise E. (Harper) Noggle.

Esther was united in marriage to William Melvin Chard in Marion, Ohio on August 11, 1946. Together they shared 68 years of marriage. Esther and Bill owned and operated the Montgomery Ward Catalog Center. She also enjoyed working at Meijer.

Esther will be remembered for her passion of gardening and canning what she grew. She loved sewing, camping and traveling. She had the gift of hospitality and was thrilled to be able to cook big meals for her guests. Esther was completely devoted to her family and one of her favorite pastimes was to travel everywhere supporting all of her grandchildren’s activities.

She had a deep and devoted faith. She was a loyal and longtime member of the Grand Prairie Baptist Church, belonging to the American Baptist Women’s Ministry “Joy Circle”.

Esther is survived by her beloved husband William Chard; her children: Janice (Harold) Holt, Jean (David) Hollenbach, Jody Walker and William R. (Sandy) Chard; 10grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Walter A. Noggle, Frank H. Noggle, P. Willard Noggle, Ralph V. Noggle, Robert R. Noggle, Marie Zeger and Edith Louise Temple.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 20, 2014 at Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 4PM to 7PM; Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at Grand Prairie Baptist Church, 4893 Marion-Upper Sandusky Rd, Marion at 11AM with Pastor Gene Parker officiating; Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery.

If so desired, donations may be made to the Grand Prairie Baptist Church “ABWM”.
