John W. Cronin, 73, formerly of Marion

John W. Cronin, age 73 of Delaware passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Riverside Hospital.

He was born in New Lexington, Ohio on January 19, 1941 to the late Ellwood and Mary (O’Farrell) Cronin.  John graduated with the Class of 1959 from St. Mary High School in Marion where he resided until moving to Delaware 30 years ago.

He worked as a production manager for American Malleable, J-Lenco, and Guard Mark and was currently working as a security guard at Cardington Yutaka Technologies.

A devout Catholic he was a member of St. Mary Church in Delaware and formerly of Marion. Not one with idle hands, he worked hard and loved animals. Never a stranger met, he was generous and very sociable. He was an avid player of cards and especially enjoyed Friday evenings games at the Pleasant Senior Center.

He will be remembered for his love of family and the camaraderie of a good game of cards.

John is survived by those whom he loved his sister Cathy (Manuel) Terrazas of Delaware, brother Woody (Shirley) Cronin of Marion, 6 nephews, a niece and numerous grandnieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his sister Janet Crump.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware where Rev. Michael Watson will officiate. Graveside services will follow 2:00 p.m. at the St. Mary Cemetery in Marion.
