Norma J. Shipley age 87 of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Friday October 17, 2014 at Presidential Center Genesis Healthcare.
She was born May 17, 1927 in Marion, Ohio to the late Roy F. and Ida May (Hash) Shenefield.
On October 9, 1947 in Marion she married William L. Shipley and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2004.
Norma was retired from GTE after more than twenty-five years.
She was a member of the Prospect St. United Methodist Church, one of the Women’s Group at the church, the Creators Guild, Y Gradale Sorority, and she was also a 1944 Graduate of Marion Harding High School.
Norma leaves behind two daughters; Connie Higgins of Pataskala, Ohio, Cindy (Gary) Reynolds of Noblesville, In., and two sons; William D. “Doug” (Deborah) Shipley of Marion, Ohio, and Russ (Carol) Shipley of Cedar, Mi. Also surviving are three granddaughters; Megan (Thomas Cook) Shipley, Claire Shipley, Emma Shipley, six grandsons; Matthew (Teri) Shipley, Lance (Makala) Shipley, Christopher (Stacy) Higgins, Brian (Kara) Higgins, Richard (Danola) Spaulding, Dan Spaulding, nine great grandchildren, two step-granddaughters, and four step-great granddaughters. A sister, Dot ILer and a brother, Jim (Ardith) Shenefield survive as well.
Besides her parents, Norma was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
There will be a Memorial Service for Norma on Thursday October 23, 2014 at 12:30 P.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Nancy Goulet. There will be a private burial at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 to 12:30 P.M.
