Franklin D “Old Man” Meade, age 79, of Marion passed away Friday, November 14, 2014, at 9:31 a.m. in his home.
He was born on January 22, 1935 in Grayson, Ky. to the late James and Otti (Stapleton) Meade.
Franklin married the former Julia T. Burton on April 2, 1960 in Jelico, Tennessee and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2008 in Marion, Ohio.
He was employed with Glen-Gery Brick Co. as a plant manager for 47 years was affectionately known by his co-workers as “The Old Man” before his retirement in January 2000.
Franklin is survived by a son; Van A. Meade of Marion, Oh., a daughter; Frankie Sue (Jason) Meade-Thacker of Marion, Oh., a sister; Marianne Huffman of Grayson, Ky., 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Julia, 2 brothers; Kenneth & James Meade, and a sister; Joyce Meade.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Monday evening, November 17th, 2014, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on Monday evening at 8:00 p.m. following the visitation and burial will be at a later date in the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Pastor David DiPietro will preside over the ceremony.
