Patricia Ann Fritz, age 83, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Monday afternoon, November 24, 2014, at Heartland of Marion, following a lengthy illness.
On July 28, 1931, Pat was born in Bucyrus, Ohio, the oldest of four daughters of the late Wilbur and Marvel (Korner) Rein. She was raised in the Bucyrus area, where she graduated from Bucyrus High School in the Class of 1949 and worked at Corona’s Market.
Shortly following graduation, Pat married the love of her life, James F. Fritz, on September 14, 1952, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus. Together they cherished their 62 years of marriage, and lovingly raised three children.
A loving homemaker, Pat always made sure the needs of her husband and children were taken care of. She especially took pride in cooking for her family, a skill she taught herself.
A woman of deep faith, Pat was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Marion, where she served as a youth director and Sunday School Superintendent.
Family oriented in every way, Pat found delight in hosting family meals and she loved being surrounded by her beloved family during the holidays. Every meal she would prepare for their get togethers, she put considerable time, thought and effort into making sure it would be warm, inviting and special for everyone in attendance. She also shared a close bond with her three sisters, whom she tried to spend every Tuesday with for many years.
Always there for her children, Pat was very active with Pleasant Schools while they were attending there, and she enjoyed helping with their athletic and band boosters.
When Pat wasn’t caring for her family, one of her favorite pastimes was making crafts, especially for Christmas, painting wood decorations to be Christmas trees and Santa Claus’s.
Selfless in every way, Pat’s biding concerns were never for herself, rather they were always for her family and dear friends. Her love and care for others was immense and boundless.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Jim Fritz of Marion; three children: Rev. Frederick (Kay) Fritz of East Lansing, MI, John (Diana) Fritz of Fremont, OH, and Rebecca (Timothy) Hale of Enon, OH; five grandchildren: Karl Fritz, Chad (Ashley) Fritz, Eric (fiancé Stacey Robertson) Fritz, and Olivia and Zoe Hale; great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her three younger sisters: Mary Lou Rohrbaugh, Marilyn Ankney, and Marvel Braden.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 4535 Smeltzer Rd., Marion, at 10:00 AM until time of services; Services honoring Pat’s life will be observed at 11:00 AM at the church with Rev. Ed Wahl officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
