Florence E. Shepard, 91, of Marion, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Marion General Hospital after a brief illness.
Florence was born September 4, 1923 in Marion County, the daughter of the late Harvey and Estella (Sloat) Cosgrove.
She was a Marion resident all of her life and a 1941 graduate of Marion Harding High School. Florence attended Calvary Church for many years.
She worked for General Telephone and then for the Marion Division of the American Cancer Society becoming a volunteer for the Reach to Recovery Program, counseling breast cancer patients.
Florence was an avid shopper and enjoyed visiting with all of her friends at Chadwick Place before moving to Kindred Nursing Home.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Karyle (Larry) Mumper. Her husband, Wayne E. Shepard, preceded her in death In February 1990.
Calling hours will be Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia St., Marion, OH from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. The funeral service will commence at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bill Middleton presiding. Interment will immediately follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
