Paul Douglas PezleyPaul Douglas Pezley, 62, of Marion, Ohio died peacefully in his wife’s arms on December 18,2014 at The James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Paul is survived by his wife, Paddy Diehl Pezley; three sons, Daniel (Andrea) Pezley (New York, NY), Michael (Sonia McMillan) Pezley (New York, NY), and David (Kelly Moeller) Pezley (Cleveland); granddaughter, Scarlett; and grandson, Connor; four sisters, Peggy Browning (Bucyrus), Yvonne (Steve) Pennington (Marion), Jeannie (Jeff) Wooley (Indianapolis), Patty (Brent) Mosley (Lancaster), ten nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Robert Norman Pezley and Rowena Rebecca Pezley, who survives in Columbus.

Paul was born in St Louis, MO in 1952. He graduated from Marion Harding High School with the class of 1971. He worked for Erie Lackawana Railroad until the line left Marion, at which point Paul followed his passion for cars into auto sales. He worked with Ted Elsey at Marion Auto Sales for the past fifteen years.

Immediately following the memorial service Saturday, December 27 at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church (corner of Church and Prospect Streets), the family will greet friends at Park Place (corner of Prospect and Center Streets) for a celebration in Paul’s honor. Everyone is welcome at both events.

Coach Larry Merchant once said, “Paul was the best baseball player I never coached.” Paul understood the value of high school athletics and loved watching his three sons play. In that memory, contributions may be made to The Marion Community Foundation, with a memo on the check specifying The Paul Pezley Baseball Scholarship Fund, 504 South State St, Marion, OH 43302.
