Sally S. Adams, age 62, of Marion, died peacefully Sunday evening, December 7, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous six month battle with cancer.
On April 30, 1952, Sally was born in Piqua, Ohio, one of five children of the late George and Mary (Wheeler) Ingle. She graduated from Covington High School in the Class of 1970.
After moving to Marion in the mid 1970’s, Sally quickly found her home away from home at GTE, which later became the Verizon Telephone Company. She worked as a customer service representative for over 30 years, retiring in 1998.
Getting a second chance at love, Sally was introduced by mutual friends to James E. Adams. Shortly thereafter, they were married on September 1, 1993, and have been by each other’s side ever since. They cherished their 21 years of marriage together.
With a love for the outdoors, Sally looked forward to mushroom hunting with her family every May in Michigan. She also loved going to Lake Erie to fish for perch. In addition to cooking the mushrooms and perch she caught, Sally was a great cook who could make anything you could think of. She loved spoiling her family from the kitchen. An excellent seamstress, Sally always had a quilt or a blanket she was making for her family. She also made many special blankets for her granddaughter, Kylee.
A feisty and strong willed woman, you always knew how Sally felt about things. More importantly though, if you were a friend or family member of Sally’s you always knew she cared about you. She had a huge heart, and would love you no matter what.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, James Adams; a daughter, Kimberly Davis; a son, Jason Kiefer, all three of Marion; three step-children: James (Amelia) Adams of LaGrange, KY, Jon Adams of Radnor, OH, and Kristin (Tim) Barry of Richwood, OH; 8 grandchildren: Wesley, and Collin Adams, Cole and Blake Berry, Savannah, Kylee, and Levi Adams, and Marisa Davis; three brothers: Charles Ingle of Troy, OH, Wayne (Kathy) Ingle of Piqua, OH, and Neil (Kim) Ingle of Troy, OH; a sister, Charlotte (Rodney) Sampson of Covington, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family will greet friends from 4 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life will also be held there at 10 a.m. on Thursday, with Pastor Keith Irey officiating. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marion General Hospital Hospice, 278 Barks Rd. W., Marion, OH 43302.
