Elwood Ernest Rhoden “Woodie”, age 91, of Marion, OH died December 28, 2014. He was born September 11, 1923 in Vanceburg, KY. He was the son of Chettie and Mary Alice Rhoden (Sizemore), both deceased of Vanceburg, KY. He is preceded in death by wife Vera Dane Rhoden (Davidson) of Marion.
He is survived by three children, Rose Yanok (Husband, Robert) of Davenport, Fl., Robert Rhoden (Wife, Traudi) of Galena, OH., and Beverly Skaggs (Husband, Robert) of Deltona, Fl. He has six grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by one child, Elwood Ernest Rhoden, Jr. and three brothers, Ollie, Edgar, and Riley.
He worked at the American Malleable for 34 years where he was the Shop Foreman for 14 years before his retirement.
He served as a CPL. in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he was awarded the Military Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Good Conduct Medal, European Theatre, Three Battle Stars. (Our Hero)
