French Henry Shultz, Jr., 90, of Marion

French Henry Shultz, JrFrench Henry Shultz, Jr., age 90, of Marion, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 with his children at his side.

On September 2, 1924, French was born to the late French H. and Mary Jane (Riley) Shultz in Princeton, WV.

After graduating from High School, French enlisted in the US Army, during World War II, where he earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

After being honorably discarded, French worked for Bennett Chevrolet and Dan Inskeep Oldsmobile as a service manager and later retired from D.C.S.C. in 1997.

French married Genevieve Margaret Gaines in November of 1945, she preceded him in death on August 6, 1977.  After the passing of Margaret, French married Thelma Stinson.  They lived together in Bexley, OH until her passing in 2004.

French had the ability to talk to anyone about anything.  He loved dogs and became a certified trainer.  French also had an adventurous side; he enjoyed traveling and saw many places including, Alaska, New Zealand and the Panama Cannel; he started sky diving at the age of 55.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed.

French is survived by children, Steven R Shultz of Marion, Scott M. (Lynn) Shultz of McKenney, VA, and Suzzann (David) Loyer of Marion, grandchildren, Jessica (Travis) Sidelinger, Max (Becky) Shultz, Shawn (Tonya) Werley, Amy (Trevor) Willis, Genevieve Loyer, and Miranda (Matt) Dickinson; numerous great-grandchildren;  sister, Mary Lee Wall; step children; step grand-children, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters, Florence Fisher and Henrietta Winfrey.

A Funeral Service will be held 12-noon Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Pastor Joel Fetter officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery. The Marion County United Veteran’s Council will conduct Military Honors at the grave.
