Geraldine M. Harris, age 74, of Marion, died peacefully Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at home surrounded by her loving family.
On July 29, 1940, Geraldine was born in Oak Hill, Ohio, the sixth of sixteen children of the late Walter and Viola (Leonard) Christian.
Geraldine married the love of her life, David Walter Harris, in 1975. They shared over thirty eight wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2014.
For over ten years, Geraldine worked at Marion Manor Nursing Home, retiring in 2001.
A woman of faith, Geraldine was a member of the Good Faith Baptist Church.
Most important of all to Geraldine was her family. They were her proudest achievements in life, and she cherished every moment spent with them…especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Having a great sense of humor, Geraldine loved to share a good laugh with her family and friends and she truly enjoyed every day to its fullest.
She will be dearly missed by her seven children: Debbie Cook of Marion, Diana (Patrick) Williams of Marion, Don (Shawna) Morita of Delaware, David (Mara) Morita of Wisconsin, Doris Stafford of Powell, Mishel (J.R.) Krawczyk of Richwood, and Melissa (Jim) Cruikshank of Delaware; 19 grandchildren: Tina Whitaker, Bobbi Jo Huffman, Lisa Corbin Miller, Harold Jr. Cook, Bo Cook, Nicole Cook, John Paul Cook, Jason Williams, Maya Morita, Chris Morita, Tony Morita, Josh Morita, Ryan Morita, Jack Stafford, Monica Stafford, Tory Krawczyk, Vince Krawczyk, Kaine Krawczyk, Madeline Cruikshank and a growing collection of great-grandchildren; the Christian sisters: Mary, Shelba, Barb, Sarah “Sis”, Carol, Peggy, Beverly, and Olivia; a brother, Mike Christian; and many nieces and nephews.
Including her husband and parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by three Christian sisters: Vicky, Delores, and Shirley; and three brothers: Hayden, John and Delmar Christian.
Her family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, January 30th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life will also be held there at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 31st, with Pastor Barkley Slone officiating. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
