Marie K. Nash, 98, of Marion

Marie K. Nash, age 98, of Marion, died peacefully early Sunday morning, January 25, 2015, at the Marion General Hospital in Marion.

On December 24, 1916, Marie was born in Galion, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank and Della (Franks) Sulser. She graduated from Martel High School.

On August 29, 1948, Marie married her one true love, LaVerne Nash, in Martel. They shared nineteen years together. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1969.

A loving homemaker, Marie took pride in caring for her husband and son.

After her husband’s passing, Marie worked at the Susquehanna Silk Mill, and she also worked out of her home as a baby sitter. Taking in and caring for countless children, all of whom she loved they would endearingly refer to her as “Grandma”.

A woman of faith, Marie was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the King’s Daughters.

Having a green thumb, Marie enjoyed vegetable gardening, and canning all of her crop. She also enjoyed crocheting and watching her soap operas.

Very friendly and welcoming, Marie’s house was her neighbors favorite place to drop in for coffee and a meal. She loved to socialize and could talk with them for hours.

She will be missed by her son, Terry (Lavon) Nash of Marion; three granddaughters: Amy (John) Butz of Caledonia, Lisa (Robert) Travis, and Kim (Josh) Thompson, both of Marion; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Luella (Riley) LaRue of Galion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by two brothers: Frederick and Verlin Sulser; two sisters: Helen Stahl and Marlene LaRue; and her step-mother, Pearl Sulser Cully.

Her family will greet friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 29th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life will be held there at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
