Sarah K. Taylor, 80, of Cardington

Sarah K. TaylorSarah K. Taylor, age 80, of Cardington, died Tuesday morning, January 13, 2015, at Morrow County Hospital following an extended illness.

On February 7, 1934, Sarah was born in Flat Gap, Kentucky, one of twelve children of the late Dan and Osie (Castle) Stapleton.

Shortly after graduating, Sarah married the love of her life, Donald Drake, on December 18, 1954. He preceded her in death in 1972.

A loving homemaker, Sarah enjoyed taking care of her family and was known by most simply as “Mom.”

After Don passed away, Sarah worked as a cook at the Derrick Motel and the Country Girl, both in Mount Gilead. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and putting together puzzles.

She will be missed by her five children: Deb Samone, Dan Drake, both of Marion, Kathy Drake, Rhonda (Tom) Kincaid, both of Cardington, and Sharon (Greg) Obando of Temecula, CA; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two brothers: Henry (Pat) Stapleton, and Robert Stapleton, both of Flat Gap, KY; two sisters: Pearl (Gene) McKinzie of Flat Gap, KY, and Margie Stapleton of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including her husband and parents, Sarah was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Her family will greet friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27th, at Snyder Funeral Home, 76  S. Main St., Mount Gilead.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
