Velda M. Hoffman, 87, of Marion, Ohio passed peacefully in her sleep on January 02, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents Thelma and Roland Thomas, siblings Betty Satta, Abner, Charles and Alvin Thomas, and son Frank Murray.
Velda retired from GTE in 1990, and received much gratification in the years to follow by volunteering her time and services at Marion General Hospital, The American Red Cross, and Meals on Wheels. She was, with husband Bill, an avid member of Hicks and Chicks Dance Club and an active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Her kind and gentle spirit endeared her to all whose lives she was a part.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, William E. Hoffman, son John R. (Mary) Murray, daughter Susan S. Austin (Theresa Carnegie), stepsons Doug (Jan) Hoffman and Steve Hoffman, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and special sister-in-law Jean Thomas.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Friday, January 09 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 241 S. Prospect St., Marion, Ohio and a service will immediately follow at 11:00 am.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff and administration at DeWolfe House for the loving care provided during Velda’s final months.
