Dr. John A. Barnhill, 76, Marion, died unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, February 8, 2015. He was born on July 31, 1938, to the late Frank and Clara Louise (Reidenbaugh) Barnhill in Marion, Ohio.
John, a retired dentist, married Janice Stanley on June 15, 1963. An avid Ohio State fan, he earned his doctorate from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1963 and was a member of Delta Sigma Delta fraternity. He was also a member of Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church, Marion Lions Club and won numerous rose awards with the Men’s Garden Club. John loved music and played the tuba and sousaphone in multiple community bands for over 50 years in Marion and Benzie County, Michigan.
John is survived by his two daughters, Jill (Chris) Schiefer of Van Buren, and Jodi (David Nadolny) Barnhill of Worthington; grandchildren, Alexander, Ryan, Zachary and Justin Schiefer and Scooter Francis and Andrea Nadolny. John was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister, Jeri L. Meeker.
The family will receive friends from 10 – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Boyd Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
