Earl Ernest Holcomb, 85, of Marion

Earl Ernest HolcombEarl Ernest Holcomb, age 85, of Marion, passed away late Tuesday evening at Genesis Presidential Care Center.

Born in Akron on December 1, 1929 to Albert and Florence (Peers) Holcomb, he married the former Nancy Williams on September 27, 1974.

Earl had spent 43 years as a locomotive engineer working for the Erie Railroad, the Erie Lackawana Railroad and finally Conrail. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, the Erie Veteran’s Association and Apex Church.

Earl enjoyed bowling, playing golf, raising tomato plants and spending time with his beloved family.

Survivors include his children; Dean & Linda Holcomb, Paul & Linda Holcomb, LuAnn & Troy Thompson, Kathleen & Steven Herr, Peggy Gill, Douglas & Sheryl White, Amy & Daniel Erickson and Jill & Phil Harrington, 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home. A celebration of Earl’s life will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Wynand DeWet officiating. Private burial will take place in the Marion Cemetery at a later date.
