Joanne A. Schwaderer, 84, of Marion

Joanne A. SchwadererJoanne A. Schwaderer, age 84, of Marion, died Sunday morning, March 1, 2015, at Primrose Retirement Community.

On March 3, 1930, Joanne was born in Marion County, OH, the daughter of the late George E. and Florence C. (Houck) Drake. She graduated from New Bloomington High School in the Class of 1948 and attended Marion Business College for one year.

Joanne married John W. Schwaderer on June 4, 1955. They shared over 31 years together before he preceded her in death in 1987.

For 25 years, Joanne worked as a school secretary and payroll clerk for Marion City Schools, retiring in 1998. She was also a long time member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.

She lived at Primrose the last six years and had the honor of being Miss Primrose 2011. She was also a member of the Primrose Ringers there.

Joanne loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In her spare time she also enjoyed reading, shopping, and playing Euchre. She was a sweet woman who would do anything for anybody.

Joanne will be dearly missed by her daughter, Peggy (Brian) Linstedt of Marion; her son, Todd (Jackie) Schwaderer of Marion; four grandchildren: Brandon (Julie) Linstedt, Taryn (Matt) McPheron, Kyle Rice, Dustin Schwaderer; 3 great grandchildren: Kayden and Leah Rice and Parker Linstedt; and a sister, Dorothy Moury of Marion.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Jeanne Schrote, Virginia Drake, Vivian Stillings, and Kathryn Wood.

Joanne’s family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services celebrating her life will be held there at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015, with Pastor Mark Schuring officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.

Rather than flowers, her family requests memorial contributions be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Media Fund, 241 S. Prospect St., Marion, OH 43302, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
