Steven L. Chapman, age 63, of Ironton and formerly of Marion, OH, died peacefully early Friday morning, March 27, 2015, at home.
On June 16, 1951, Steve was born in Marion, Ohio, the son of the late Vincent and Leona (Huffman) Chapman.
Steve worked for many years at Marion Malleable doing foundry work, and also worked at the Hatchery in LaRue. In 2005, he moved to Ironton to be near his family.
An avid fisherman, Steve loved to go fishing with his best friends; his brother, Ray, and his cousin, Ronnie Welch. Those three were inseparable. As a family they all looked forward to their yearly trip to Lake Erie, to catch, cook and eat as much fish as possible. He also enjoyed oil painting, playing cards, and watching football.
A jokester, Steve was always making everyone laugh.
He will be missed by his daughter, Tasha Hinman of Ironton; three grandchildren: Tyler, Dillon and Cheyenne; brother, Ray Chapman of Ironton; sisters: Viola (Don) Thompson of Texas, and Carol Vanderhoff of Marion; and two nieces: Michelle Rodriguez and Lisa Thompson.
Including his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Chapman.
His family will greet friends from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 2nd, at the Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Home, 347 W. Center St., Marion. Services honoring his life will follow immediately at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
