Charles E. Baker Sr. age 74 of Marion, Ohio passed away on April 9, 2014 at home with his family. He was in failing health for about the last year, but is now at peace.
Charles was born August 29, 1940 in Bucyrus, Ohio to the late Clarence R. and Gertrude A. (Sparks) Baker.
He worked at Erie and Conrail Railroad for 18 years. After retiring he worked maintenance at Meijer and Red Lobster for many years.
On January 1, 1966 he married Mary Eva (Sparks). They were married for 49 years and have four children together, Charles E. Baker Jr., Linda K. (Norman) VanGundy, Robert A. (Wendy) Baker and Vickie S. Baker all of Marion. He has 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandsons.
Charles is also survived by his two sisters and two brothers, Shirley Baker of Columbus, OH., Nellie Hinds of Delaware, OH., Bill (Gladys) Baker of Bowling Green, KY., and David (Phyllis) Baker of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and his sister.
Charles was an avid sports fan. Charles loved his kids, grandkids and wife; they were his whole life. He loved taking them everywhere he went. He is truly loved and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Kelsee Murphy and Heather Moore, his hospice nurses for their love and care.
Visitation for Charles will be Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 5 – 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 15, 2015 @ 10 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Wayne Carr officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery.
