James C. “Jim” Cooper, 79, of Marion

James C. "Jim" CooperJames C. “Jim” Cooper age 79 of Marion, Ohio, died April 1, 2015 at Primrose Retirement Community.

Jim was born June 9, 1935 in Marion, Ohio to Hayes and Edith Cornely Cooper.

Jim was in business, Cooper’s Auto Supply, with his brothers, Jack and Gene, for many years until the business was sold and he retired.

Jim had a great love of Lake Erie, boating and scuba diving, and spent a lot of time at the lake during his lifetime.

He was a graduate of St. Mary High School and a member of St. Mary Church.

Brother , Uncle, and Friend, Jim is survived by his sister, Margaret Roberts of Delaware, Ohio. nieces, Vicki (Bob) Sanner, and Jane (Greg) Butts, and nephews, Rod (Diane) Cooper, Mike (Deb) Cooper, and Tim (Julia) Cooper, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Jack and Gene, and nephew, Doug Roberts.

A Funeral Mass for Jim will be celebrated on Friday April 10, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 251 N. Main St. Marion, Ohio. .Officiating the service will be Fr. Thomas Buffer. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Thursday April 9, 2015 from 5 to 8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the James C. Cooper St. Mary Church Fund at Marion Community Foundation which benefits the students at St. Mary School or Marion General Hospital Hospice.
