M. Dale Minshall, age 102 of Marion, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015 in Columbus, OH at Mayfair Village Assisted Living.
Preceded in death by her father, Edward Dodrill, Dale was born on June 29, 1912 to Lenna (Bishop) Dodrill in Alice, OH. Lenna then married Elmer Moore, whom Dale knew as her father for the rest of her life.
On September 15, 1934, Dale married W. Melvin Minshall in Albion, IN.
Dale was a 1930 graduate of Harding High School and a 1933 graduate of Grant Hospital School of Nursing. She did general and private duty nursing at the old Marion City Hospital on Delaware Avenue.
Dale was a public health nurse for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company during World War II, an office and surgical nurse for Dr. Phil Smith, and an industrial nurse for Tecumseh Products, Inc.
Dale was formerly a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and of Kings Mill Golf Course, where she was the first woman ever recorded to make a hole-in-one there.
Besides her father, Edward, Dale was preceded in death by her mother, Lenna Moore, and step-father, Elmer Moore, as well as her husband, W. Melvin Minshall.
Surviving Dale are her daughter, Onda (James) Booker, her grandchildren, Christine, Linda, Molly and Andrew, great-grandchildren, Alex, Elliott, Sydonia, and Alice, and her nieces, Cara and Beckie.
Services for Dale will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 2:00PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Rev. David Hoffman will preside. Interment will immediately follow at Chapel Heights Memory Garden. Friends may call on the family at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1-2PM.
