Mary Margaret (Sechrist) Rice, 88, of Marion

Mary Margaret (Sechrist) Rice, 88, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on April 09, 2015,at 9:04 pm in Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Marion.

Mary was born in Marion, to Roy Harrison and Ethel Dae (Fate) Sechrist on July 18, 1926. She attended Harding High School, where she graduated in 1944, and was a homemaker. She attended several churches over her lifetime, and she was active wherever she attended.

On March 11, 1944, Mary married Harry Emery Rice in Greenup, Kentucky. They were married for 60 years. Mary is survived by her daughters, Mary Dae (Norman Dale) Reed of Marion, and Margaret Ann (Phillip Michael) Barlow, Prospect, and son, Max Gregory (Barbara Ann Lee) Rice, La Rue. She has eight grandchildren, Samuel Adam (Kristi Lynn Baxter) Reed of Marion, Kimberly Dae (Joshua Allen) Baum of Perrysburg, Meredith Dawn (Mariàn) Mucha of Galloway, Michelle Faye (Timothy Joseph) Tipsword, Bethany Ann (Billy Joe) Hill, Rachel Marie (Nicholas Warren) Withrow all of Marion, Jessica Rae (Jeremy Kyle) Reed of Kenton, and Jennifer Marie (Kevin Wayne) McCleary of Delaware. Mary loved her great grandchildren: Kelsey Nicole Reed, Braxton Adam Reed, Chloe Dae Kern, Mason Henry Baum, Talia Marie Baum, Isabella Emery Mucha, Gabriella Maria Mucha, Chase Brooks Tipsword, Landon Harris Tipsword, Addyson Faith Tipsword, Hailee Alexis Hill, Hannah Alece Hill, Dreyson Barlow Withrow, Noah Harrison Reed, Silas Jamison Reed, and Mason Wayne McCleary. Mary was also a proud great great grandmother to Cambrie Rae Fox and Piper Nicole Daily. She is also survived by her niece, Pamela Dae Harper and nephew, Max Brent Sechrist.

Along with her husband, she is predeceased by her parents, sister, Dorothy Elnora (Wayne) Harper and brother, Max Richard (Marjorie McElhiney) Sechrist, and nephew, Mark Harper. She is survived by close friends: Star Andrews, Linda & Woody Tharp, George Miller, Joe Dewiel, Lee Rawlins, and the staff at the Marion Diner.

Mary’s family would also like to thank the caring staff at Kindred and Acclaim Hospice.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am, Tuesday, April 14, at Marion Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene, 233 West Church Street, Marion, on the same day.
