Betty Irene Drodofsky 89 of Redford, Michigan former long time resident of Richwood, died Saturday May 23, 2015 at her home in Michigan.
Betty was born May 29, 1925 to the late Arthur and Delta (McCarrey) Hawkins.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. A former long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prospect and current member of St. Paul’s Lutheran in Waldo and Celebration Lutheran in Livonia, MI.
She was an avid reader and knitter, giving most of her knitted items to charity; but her family was her life.
A native of Salem, Illinois, Betty moved to Dayton in 1942 and was a 1943 graduate of Kiser High School in Dayton. There she met the love of her life, Fritz Drodofsky and they were married on June 22, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1984.
Betty is survived by her children: Laureen (David) Preston of Livonia, MI; Peter (Kerri) Drodofsky of Strongsville, Michael (Patricia) Drodofsky of Lithopolis, and Samuel (Jane) Drodofsky of Spicer, MN, 8 grandchildren: Andrew Preston, Michael Preston, Emilie Drodofsky Quesada, Matthew Drodofsky, Robert Drodofsky, Susan Drodofsky, Maxwell Drodofsky, Daniel Drodofsky; cousins: June Holbrook of Texas, Grace McCarrey of Illinois; and numerous other family members and friends. She is preceded in death also by her sister, Mary Lou Jarvis.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Waldo with Pastor Sarah Schaaf officiating. Burial will follow in the Claibourne Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until the time of service at the church in Waldo
